We are currently recruiting for a Boaders Chef to join our team at one of our independent schools in York, YO24 4DD. 

This is a permanent, term-time position working 31.5 hours per week. The hours will be:

• 7am to 2:30pm Tuesday & Wednesday
• 8:30am to 6:30pm Friday 
• 10am to 6:30pm Saturday

In this role, you will support the Chef Manager with the preparation and service of meals for approximately 300 boarding students each day. All of our food is freshly prepared from scratch, with bespoke menus designed by our chefs to deliver exciting, on-trend breakfast, lunch and supper options. We take pride in using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients to create high-quality, nutritious dishes.

Proposed start date: 10th March 2026

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Have experience working in a similar role and environment
• Be highly organised and comfortable working in a high-pressured environment
• Ensure you have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety
• Keep up standards of hygiene and ensure all areas are clean and tidy
• Have excellent customer service and social skills
• Be responsible for the preparation and serving of food to staff
• Have a can do attitude and will work well as part of a team of 8
• Be customer focused
• Be willing to participate and enjoy working part of the team
