We are currently recruiting for a Catering Assistant to join our team at one of our independent schools in Harrogate, HG1 2QG.

This is a permanent, year-round position working 37.5 hours per week, 5 days out of 7, between 9am and 4:30pm. The role includes working during school holidays to support lettings, hospitality and events taking place on the school grounds.

We’re looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join our busy team of 17, helping deliver great food and service to pupils, staff and visitors.

You’ll support breakfast, lunch and supper service throughout the week, as well as hospitality and functions, including setting up, serving, clearing and cleaning. You’ll also help run our school café, serving barista-style coffees and light snacks, alongside supporting breakfast and lunch service for students. Some food preparation and washing up will also be required to keep services running smoothly.

Previous catering experience is preferred, but just as importantly, we’re looking for someone who is reliable, approachable and enjoys working as part of a team in a busy environment. If you have a positive attitude and take pride in providing great customer service, we’d love to hear from you. Full training will be provided to help you develop your barista coffee-making skills.

Skills and experience

• Be organised and able to work efficiently in a busy environment.

• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and follow health and safety procedures.

• Have good communication and customer service skills, with a friendly and approachable manner.

• Be a team player who is happy to get involved wherever needed.

• Be willing to learn new skills, including preparing and serving barista-style coffees.

• Be flexible and happy to support a variety of catering services, hospitality events and school functions throughout the year.
